Tour guide at one of the stop, NASA

Bus tour guide.

This guy was a lot better than the bus drivers. Some of the bus drivers had a little bit of an attitude, kind of like they were in control which of course is natural as they are. One bus driver was quite a joker and made some remarks which were really more of a joke and untrue. For example he said we could crowd in and go in the door to the Saturn tour before the others in line when we got out, which was really a joke and not meant to be taken seriously.

This guy however was on the bus with a driver and had a very nice and smooth delivery of facts and had a lot of information about the place.

He mentioned casually that the Orion space platform launch site was being cut down by welders as we passed by. It was recently built and one of the newer platforms, but not as that program is cancelled, it's being cut down. He said scrape haulers would be hauling it off to Ocala if we wanted to follow one to try to get a piece of history.

It was interesting and also ironic at times, because of the impact of the shuttle program closing down and little new direction or few replacement programs. At times you could tell the sadness and irony, of being excited to be there, yet knowing locals were being affected and many about to lose their jobs.

To many who are fans of NASA, it's sad to see a program go like the shuttle. Because we led the world into space and seemed to be leaving manned space flight and of course we are scaling down.
